London Review

Hi there, from this side of the screen is Gonçalo and this is my review of London.

One of the funniest things that kept happening was hearing the Londoners trying to pronounce my name the right way, sometimes they just gave up and just said Gonzales with Spanish accent or Goncalo, in fact very few people were able to pronounce my name correctly. There are many cultures on the streets of London, you are always hearing people speaking Spanish, Italian, French, Russian, very few Portuguese, Arab, Indian, Japanese, Cantonese and German, in fact, more than 300 languages are spoken in the region.

There are plenty of places to visit and things to see, like:
  •     Big Ben
  •     London Eye
  •     Sea Life London Aquarium
  •     Westminster Palace
  •     Westminster Abey
  •     St. James Park
  •     Green Park
  •     Buckingham Park
  •     HydePark
  •     Oxford street
  •     The Sherlock Holmes Museum
  •     Regent's Park
  •     ZSL London Zoo
  •     Madame Tussauds
  •     TheBritishMuseum
  •     Natural History Museum
  •      Hampstead Heath
  •      Camden Town
  •      Millenium Bridge
  •      Tower Bridge
  •      CuttySark
  •      Greenwich Park
  •      M&Ms World
  •      Picadilly Circus
  •      Etc...

The London weather is kinda bipolar, sometimes is real cloudy and then the sun just appears and “bumm” hot summer time - everyone with short sleeve sweaters and trainers- if the temperature is above more or less 21 degrees Celsius and it’s not windy you just see people on the street almost dressed like the temperature was 28 degrees or something like that. There was this one time that the temperature from my perspective was like not that cold but also not that hot and then the sun came up for a few minutes, I was passing by a park and then I started to see people in bikini lying on the grass of the park - this didn’t happen just once. I mean, I understand that they are not used to have high temperatures and that is cloudy most of the time, but walking in bikini on the street and wearing a bikini in the park when the temperatures are like 21/22 degrees was something I thought was weird.
There were two parks I loved that were Hyde Park and Regent's Park, those are good places to spend an afternoon or stroll. It was with my trips to the parks that I realized that the Sunday’s picnics were a real thing there, specially when it’s sunnier than the usual.
And speaking about trips, I’m not exaggerating when I say that every big city in the world needed a transports grid like London, I mean, the system is almost perfect, there are like nine tube lines and also Overgrounds, DLRs, trains and buses.
The only thing that they could improve is the tube’s cooling system, because the temperature down there can be very high especially during rush hours, just for being there during rush hours you can lose more or less 5 pounds in sweat, just for being there, the cooling system is very bad.
In the end, I was able to visit some cool places and get work experience in a city as wonderful as London.
